A complete strip out and refurbishment project where the building was taken back to shell, structure, lift and stairs, and where the rest of the floor was reconfigured to provide accommodation for the two departments with shared facilities such as wcs, break-out and refreshment area as well as meeting and tutorial rooms.
Each department had a large open plan area for workstations and collaborative working areas, as well as some single, double and triple occupancy offices with full glass partitions.
a:nw was brought into the project as part of Paragon Interiors team to work alongside the university estates team and the interior designers at Atkins.
Skylight were added as well as the glass walls to help with providing day light into the deep plan floor plate. A living wall and ‘day-light’ window light fitting were added to the break-out space as features.
The fast track refurbishment project was started and completed in the summer of 2018, and ready for the autumn term.
